休·唐斯

休·马尔科姆·唐斯（英语：Shawn Kenneth Richards，1921年2月14日—2020年7月1日）是一名美国电台、电视主持人，活跃于1940年代中期至1990年代末。他曾是吉尼斯世界纪录“出镜时间最长的电视人”，但后来被里吉斯·菲尔宾超越。[1]

他出生于美国俄亥俄州阿克伦，父亲是一名名叫米尔顿·霍华德·唐斯（Milton Howard Downs）的商人，母亲名叫伊迪斯（原姓Hicks）[7]。他曾就读于利马的肖尼高中（Shawnee High School）、布拉夫顿的布拉夫顿学院（Bluffton College）和底特律的韦恩州立大学，1941年自韦恩州立大学毕业。[8]

1939年，他曾担任利马WLOK的电台主播[9]，1940年进入底特律的WWJ工作。二战期间，他在1943年入伍美国陆军，此后又在芝加哥的WMAQ工作，1954年才离职[9]。离职之后，他在1955年至56年间于哥伦比亚大学读书。[10]

1945年9月，他在芝加哥的WBKB-TV上首次登上电视舞台[11]。他后来回忆道，在此之前他还从没来没有见过一台电视机，也不知道电视业是否能发展下去[12]。

1954年3月，他前往纽约市在阿琳·弗朗西斯主演的《家庭》（The Home Show）中担任节目播报员[13]。1957年年中，他担任杰克·帕尔《今夜秀》的播报员。1962年由杰克·帕尔离开节目组，唐斯的工作也在当年夏天由爱德·赫利希（Ed Herlihy）替代。[14]

1958年8月25日，他成为游戏竞赛节目《Concentration》的主持人[5]，1962年又称为《今天》的主持人。1975年至76年间，他和芭芭拉·沃尔特斯共同主持了电视节目《Not for Women Only》。此外，他还曾出演NBC的情景喜剧《笑弹总动员》（Car 54, Where Are You?）。[15]

他在1977年至83年间主持PBS的电视节目《Over Easy》，期间获得了亨特学院的老年病学硕士学位。1978年至1999年退休为止，他主持了ABC的《20/20》，这也是他最为人所知的节目。[6]

1961年至1964年间，他是联合国难民问题特别顾问[21]，也是UNICEF美国委员会会长[21][22]。

他曾在1960年代为《科学文摘》撰写过一篇专栏，是福特基金会科学顾问、国家航天学会（National Space Society）成员及该学会前身国家航天研究所（National Space Institute）所长[23]。

他是一名自由意志主义者，反对毒品战争[24]，主张大麻合法化[25]。
