软腭鼻音

软腭鼻音（velar nasal、agma）是辅音的一种，中文俗称后鼻音，在国际音标中以⟨ŋ⟩(ng)表示，在X-SAMPA中以⟨N⟩表示。现代标准汉语的 ang、eng、ing、ong 的韵尾 ng 就是此音。

特征

• 调音方法是闭塞，也就是说通过阻碍空气在声道流动来调音。由于此辅音也是一个口腔辅音，故气流被完全地阻塞住，而形成一个塞音。

• 调音部位是软腭，即以舌根部位抵住软腭。

• 发声类型是浊音，意味着发音时声带颤动。

• 本辅音是鼻音，调音时空气会从鼻逸出。

• 本辅音为中央辅音，调音时气流在口腔的中央流过舌面，而不从两侧流过。
• 气流机制是肺部气流，即由肺与横膈膜驱动空气。

出现语言

该音见于汉语中

• 现代标准汉语仅用于韵尾：英 /jiŋ˥/。
• 部分官话，我、恩、爱、奥、安、欧、昂、屙、鹅、额、鄂、压、啊 等零声母开口字，皆为软腭鼻音。
• 于粤语，此音可以在音首和音末中出现，如我 /ŋɔː˩˧/、轻 /hɪŋ˥/、昂 /ŋɔːŋ˨˩/；亦可单独出现，如吴 /ŋ̩˨˩/、五 /ŋ̩˩˧/。
• 于吴语，字首现于我、五、鱼、吴，其余从广韵疑母字皆以ŋ作声母。字末现于东、清、唐、登，其余从广韵通江宕梗曾摄平上去声以ŋ作韵尾。儿化音以ŋ结尾，如女儿 /ȵyŋ/。
• 闽南语，可作声母，如“夹”/ŋeʔ˦/；韵尾，如“空”/kʰaŋ˦˦/；成音节辅音，如“黄”/ŋ˨˦/、“光”/kŋ˦˦/。

该音见于英语中

在英语中，软腭鼻音只能发生在韵尾，有以下两种情况：

• 软腭鼻音发生在一个单词（或语素）的结束时，写作<ng>：sing /sɪŋ/。
• 软腭鼻音发生在软腭塞音(/k/或/g/)之前，成为（主要音素 |N|) 而写作<n>：bank /bæŋkʰ/; finger /'fɪŋgə(ɹ)/
