卡罗莱纳省
卡罗莱纳省（英语：Province of Carolina）[1]是英格兰，后来是大不列颠殖民地在北美洲的殖民地。卡罗莱纳在现时北卡罗莱纳州所在地建立。卡罗莱纳后来南扩，最大时达到现今的北卡罗莱纳州、南卡罗莱纳州、佐治亚州、阿拉巴马州、田纳西州、密西西比州，以及部分佛罗里达州和路易斯安那州[2]。

查理一世的检察总长罗伯特·希思爵士获颁授英属美洲的惊恐角河地区的特许状，1629年建制成为卡罗拉纳省[1]。特许状后来被裁定无效，8名英国贵族大地主在1663年3月24日获颁发新特许状[3]。1663年省份也改名为卡罗莱纳[4]。查理二世向8名大地主颁发土地以报答他们在1660年为王政复辟提供财政和政治支援[5]。查理二世计划新建省份将作为英国的防波提，防止西属佛罗里达向北扩张[6][7]。
1669年，卡罗莱纳基本宪法将卡罗莱纳殖民地分割为两个省分，分别是北面的阿尔伯马尔省和南面的克拉伦登省[8]。由于殖民地管治的意见不合，以及北半殖民地和南半殖民地的距离，1691年委任了一名代表总督管理卡罗莱纳北半部（阿尔伯马尔省）[9]。1712年，两个省成为分开的殖民地，北卡罗莱纳殖民地（旧阿尔伯马尔省）及南卡罗莱纳殖民地（旧克拉伦登省）[10]。
虽然南北政府在1712年完成分割，两个殖民地都维持由同一批大地主的手中管理。1719年发生了反对大地主的叛变，导致1720年南卡罗莱纳委任了皇家总督。将近10年后，英国政府找到并购回大地主的土地后，北卡罗莱纳省和南卡罗莱纳省在1729年成为皇家殖民地。
