分类及命名
编辑本种首先由Bernard GermaindeLacépède于1801年以Centronotus glaycos的名义进行科学描述。[1]1903年，查尔斯·泰特·里根将该物种转移到一个新属Campogramma，创造了今天使用的有效组合。本种有两个初级同义词，第一个在1941年被Delsman描述为Oligoplites africana，第二个在1955年由Dollfus描述，他们命名为Campogramma lirio。

编辑本鱼体呈纺锤型，背侧轮廓比腹侧轮廓稍微凸出，[2]上颚宽而圆，其上端和下颚均有一排宽大且间隔宽的犬齿。背鳍2个，背鳍硬棘7枚、背鳍软条30枚、臀鳍硬棘2枚、臀鳍软条23-24枚，[3]体上半部钢青色至绿色，深色的颜色终止于一系列锯齿状的凸起，腹面颜色为银色到白色，所有鳍都是透明的灰色，除了尾鳍通常是黄色的，体长可达60公分，体重可达2.8公斤。
生态
编辑成鱼栖息在大洋或浅海区，以其他鱼类为食，生活习性不明，可做为食用鱼及游钓鱼。它通常以新鲜，冷冻或干燥和盐腌的形式出售，也用于生产鱼粉和油。
