宇宙2251
宇宙2251（俄语：Космос-2251）是一颗俄罗斯天箭座2M军事通讯卫星，也是第一起卫星碰撞事故的人造卫星之一。1993年6月16日，搭载宇宙2251的宇宙3号M型运载火箭从普列谢茨克航天发射场132号站点发射升空，并进入低轨道[1]·[2]。由于天箭座卫星的使用寿命为5年，俄罗斯政府报告宇宙2251卫星已经在1995年停止运作[3]。不过俄罗斯将这颗废弃的卫星留在轨道拥挤处，而未设法让卫星离开轨道[4][5][6]。
2009年2月10日，宇宙2251卫星和美国铱卫星33号在西伯利亚北部（泰梅尔半岛）上空790公里处发生碰撞，两个卫星均遭到摧毁，并且产生大量太空垃圾。
