拉布拉多鸭
一種已滅絕的鳥
拉布拉多鸭（学名：Camptorhynchus labradorius）是一种像绒鸭及呈黑白色的鸭，相信是北美洲自1500年后第一种灭绝的动物。最后见到拉布拉多鸭是于1878年在纽约州的埃尔迈拉市。最后保存下来的标本是于1875年在长岛被射杀的。虽然未有发现它们的巢穴，据估是在拉布拉多鸭繁殖，并由新斯科舍迁至切萨皮克湾过冬。

食性 编辑
拉布拉多鸭的嘴边阔平，内有大量薄片，适合吃细小的软体动物。故此它们在生态上是太平洋或亚洲北部小绒鸭的同伴。其他有相似结构的动物是澳洲无关的红耳鸭，但红耳鸭主要是吃浮游生物，但也吃软体动物。拉布拉多鸭的情况有点像山蓝鸭，可能只是在外表上相似。
灭绝 编辑
拉布拉多鸭的灭绝仍未有解释。虽然它们也会被作为食物，但其肉质并不可口，加上很快变坏，只有很低的价值。另外估计它们的蛋被过分采集，或是因蚌类的减少而缺乏食物。虽然秋沙鸭亚科也会吃浅水的蚌类，但却没有一种像拉布拉多鸭般依赖这些食物。[2]
