型态描述 编辑
壳的尺寸为24毫米至45毫米之间。有记载的最大的壳长度为45毫米[2]。基于化感作用，本物种的外套膜展现出多彩的颜色，以致本物种过往曾被错误地按其型态或色彩而划分成多个物种：事实上这些物种间的遗传物质完全相同[1][3]。
习性 编辑
生活在0.3米至90米深的海域。[2]
