相對市場採用的操作系統

操作系统份额，是指在电子计算设备中运行操作系统的市场占有比例。操作系统份额常因用户升级、降级或更换使用之设备而产生变化。目前全球使用人数最多的操作系统为Google公司推出的Android，截至2017年拥有超过26亿名用户[2]；微软公司推出的Windows操作系统则有超过14亿名用户，是个人电脑份额最高之操作系统。

Windows自1990年代起，因为个人电脑的兴起，曾称霸操作系统市场达10余年[3][4]；随着近年移动设备兴起，移动设备操作系统如Android、iOS等用户大幅增加，Android更于2017年超越Windows，成为使用人数最多的操作系统[5][6]，宣告电脑主宰市场的时代逐渐终结[7]。

值得注意的是，由于精确计算操作系统的使用人数十分困难，市场调查公司多利用间接数据如联网设备数、设备销售量等估计操作系统市占率，因此最终得出的数据并不会完全准确。

个人电脑市场部分，微软推出的Windows操作系统一直是市场的领导者，根据2023年4月Statcounter的调查，Windows份额高达62.65%，大幅领先主要竞争对手macOS的17.79%。[9]

这些信息是从互联网浏览器的用户代理字符串推导出的。 这并不完全可靠， 因为：

  • 互联网浏览器并不总是提供准确的信息给服务器。
  • 报告也许只是针对某些专门的操作系统。
  • 很多电脑因为防火墙或者过滤器而不能浏览一些网站。
  • 有些电脑并未与互联网连接。
  • 有些电脑同时运行多个操作系统（模拟）或者不同时间运行不同的操作系统（多次重启动）
  • 统计方法（网站列表，操作系统的判定，时段的计算，个体的访问用户，网页的点击或者网站的点击）也许并未完全符合电脑这个领域。
  • 某个电脑也许会被统计多次，而其他的却没有被统计。
  • 使用某个操作系统的用户也许在其他电脑上运行另外的操作系统。

例如，以下数据显示Linux 只有0.8%的使用份额，是由IDC （页面存档备份，存于互联网档案馆）， Gartner（页面存档备份，存于互联网档案馆）做出的调查。而其他的调查则显示Linux的使用份额远远高于这个数字。 W3schools.com的网站统计显示出2007，Linux使用份额3.4%，远大于0.8%。 源网站出现的操作系统也包括在内，并且最大占有至少0.1% 的份额。
