犹他-阿兹特克语系

犹他-阿兹特克语系(Uto-Aztecan languages)是一个美洲原住民语言的语系。犹他-阿兹特克语系主要分布在北美大盆地地区(Great Basin)的美国俄勒冈州爱达荷州犹他州加州内华达州亚利桑那州等地,且一直分布到墨西哥。“犹他(Utah)”这个名称是源自属于犹他-阿兹特克语系的犹特(Ute)族原住民。阿兹特克人的语言古典纳瓦特尔语及现代的各种纳瓦特尔语也属于犹他-阿兹特克语系。

原始犹他-阿兹特克语是犹他-阿兹特克语系的祖语。学界一般认为原始犹他-阿兹特克语的原乡在亚利桑那州和新墨西哥州的高地地区,以及邻接的墨西哥索诺拉省和奇瓦瓦省,大致对应索诺拉沙漠奇瓦瓦沙漠西部。它在约5000年前由北墨西哥和美国西南部的中石器时代放牧者使用。
