1904年，一位名叫伊拉·M·约德尔（Ira M. Yoder）的早期邮政局长以自己的姓氏在当地开设了一所名叫“约德尔”的邮政局，随后这个非建制地区便以“约德尔”命名。[3][4]另一方面，当地学生会前往位于艾迪逊54JT学区（Edison School District 54JT）的艾迪逊初级-高级中学（Edison Junior-Senior High School），以及迈阿密-约德尔60JT学区（Miami-Yoder School District 60JT）学习。
