美国教师联盟
美国教师联盟（The American Federation of Teachers，AFT），也译作美国教师联合会，是由美国教师组成的工会团体，由玛格丽特·海莉创立于1916年的芝加哥；[3][4] 其前身为1900年创立的美国教师与学生联盟（American Federation of Teachers and Students）。[5]

美国教师联盟有约60%的会员从事教职，其余为准教职人员或其他校园工作者，包括联邦政府或各州职员、大学院校职员、护理师、医疗从业者等人员，组成相当多元。 美国教师联盟自成立以来，就是美国劳工联合会-产业工会联合会的会员工会。

美国教师联盟创立于1916年4月15日的芝加哥。1919年时，美国教师联盟已有100个地方分会，合计代表1万1, 000名美国教师的权益（占当时美国教师总数的1.5%）。 成立初期，有别于全国教育协会（NEA），美国教师联盟纯为教师组织，不接受学校行政人员成为会员。在政治人物与各校高层打压下，1930年的美国教师联盟会员人数一度仅剩7,000人，其对联邦政府或各州教育政策的影响力也渐趋衰落。 [6]
不过，1939年时，美国遭逢经济大恐慌，政府和各校都陷入财务困境，连带影响教师工作权益和教学品质，导致许多教师因不满现状而加入工会，美国教师联盟的会员人数也在此时攀升至3万3,000人。1930年代的美国教师联盟不只能为小学教师发声，也能为大学教授的劳动权益挺身而出。此时，美国共产党也逐渐渗透联盟，以某些地方分会为基地吸收成员，并招致非共产党人的联盟干部不满。在1941年，美国教师联盟就拒绝三个由共产党人主导的地方工会加入联盟，这三个地方工会都位于纽约市或费城。
到了1940年代，美国教师联盟开始以一系列罢工行动，作为组织发展策略。第二次世界大战结束后，1946年到1949年间，美国教师联盟共发动57次罢工行动，此时美国教师联盟的会员人数已上升到4万2,000人。1960、70年代，美国教师罢工行动更为频繁，仅在1960年至1974年间，就有约1,000次教师罢工行动，总共影响全美82万3,000名教师的权益。如此频繁的罢工行动，其成效也反映在联盟的会员人数上：美国教师联盟在1960年的会员人数是5万9,000人，1970年是20万人，1980年更达到55万人。在这些会员中，有将近一半的会员也加入了全国教育协会；1998年该协会曾讨论是否与美国教师联盟合并，但被否决。
1977年，《美国教育工作者》创刊，每季发行一次，是美国教师联盟的机关报，为全美教师提供儿童与教育相关议题资讯。
政治行动 编辑
2008年美国总统选举时，美国教师联盟宣布捐赠178万4,808.59美元的政治献金给希拉里·克林顿阵营。同时该联盟也捐赠199万7,375美元政治献金给巴拉克·奥巴马阵营。[7]
2015年7月，美国教师联盟宣布支持希拉里·克林顿参选第45任美国总统。希拉里与美国教师联盟主席兰迪·温加顿是多年好友。[8] 不过，该联盟内部对此有所争议。部分会员认为联盟决策太快，无法充分反映基层会员对未来教育政策的想像。有些会员在民主党内初选时，倾向支持伯尼·桑德斯提出的教育方针。[9][10]
