自由文化作品定义

自由文化作品定义是2006年为自由作品所下的定义。所下的定义。此专案会检视各种自由作品授权条款，并将适合的条款推荐给大众。

大卫·威利在1998年创立的开放内容专案是定义开放内容的先锋。2003年，威利加入知识共享任“教育授权条款总监”，并宣布知识共享之知识共享授权条款为其开放内容专案的继承者。[2][3]

因此，知识共享的埃里克·默勒与理查·史托曼、劳伦斯·雷席格、班哲明·马可·希尔、安吉拉·贝丝蕾[4]等人合作，于2006年启动了自由文化作品专案，以便定义何谓自由作品。第一版自由文化作品定义的草案于2006年4月3日发布[5]，随后1.0及1.1版皆以英文发布，并翻译为多种语言。[6]

维基媒体基金会采用了自由文化作品定义。[7] 2008年，知识共享的姓名标示与姓名标示-相同方式分享授权条款通过认可，条款页面上也获得“通过自由文化作品认可”的标记。[8]

于2009年6月，维基百科改采双授权制度：以知识共享姓名标示-相同方式分享做为主要授权，另同时以原先采用、并已相容该条款[9]的GNU自由文件授权条款授权大众使用。[10] 授权方式更动的主因，是希望能相容于更广阔的自由内容生态系。[11][12]

2014年10月，开放知识基金会为“开放作品”及“开放授权”所下的开放定义2.0版中，将“开放”一词视为“自由文化作品”中之“自由”的同义词（也同于开放源码定义 和自由软件定义）。[13]较为不同之处是开放定义将公众领域、存取（开放近用）及读取能力（开放格式）都列入考量。该定义针对开放内容同样推荐采用三组知识共享授权条款（姓名标示、姓名标示-相同方式授权与CC0[14][15][16]）授权作品，并且另外针对开放资料则推荐采用开放资料公众领域贡献与授权条款（PDDL）、开放资料公众姓名标示授权条款 （ODC-BY）或开放数据库授权条款（ODbL）授权。
