卖淫在英国（英格兰、苏格兰及威尔士）是合法的[1]，不过部分相关的活动，包括在公众地方拉客、在街道上游荡（俗称企街）、管有及经营妓院和扯皮条都属违法。自2015年6月1日起，卖淫在北爱尔兰是犯法行为[2] 。
虽然有相关监管法例，但不是经常严格执行，据报警察甚至抱着只眼开只眼闭的态度[3]，至不少妓院于曼彻斯特、伦敦及加的夫等城市以按摩院的晃子营业。
