西奥多·康托尔
西奥多·爱德华·康托尔（丹麦语：Theodore Edward Cantor，1809年—1860年）是一名丹麦医生、动物学家和植物学家[1]。他出生于一个丹麦犹太家庭[2]，母亲是纳塔尼尔·瓦利希的妹妹。康托尔曾为英国东印度公司工作，并在槟榔屿和马六甲收集自然史资料[3]。
康托尔是第一位描述泰国斗鱼的西方科学家[4][5][6][7]。在爬行动物学领域，他描述了许多爬行动物和两栖动物的新物种[8]，有六个物种以他的名字命名。

The fighting Betta appeared as early as Cantor's 1 849 Catalog of Malayan Fishes where it was recognized (with illustrations) as different but a variant from the Macropodus pugnax with which it was grouped.
