在2013年3月20日，TV Land 预订了本剧的第五季。[1] 将于2013年9月16开始制作，并将首播日期定于2014年3月26日，并也是二度以现场直播的方式演出。[3] 本季的特别来宾包括en:Jason Priestley 饰演 Corey Chambers，一个电影明星并且是梅拉妮高中的暗恋对象；[4] Thomas Lennon 饰演FBI的调查员，过来调查维多利亚的先生的失踪案；[5] en:Chris Elliott 饰演 Luke，爱儿卡的新男朋友，有点懒惰；[6] 莎拉·海兰饰演 Ivy，一位女演员，与维多利亚竞争奥斯卡提名；[7] en:Tim Daly 饰演 Mitch Turner，乔伊工作的侦探社的新老板；[8] en:Chevy Chase 饰演 Ross Barkley，跟梅拉妮约会的对象，然而有一个恐怖的秘密；[9] en:Max Greenfield 饰演一个经营宠物领养顾问的骗子；en:Nora Dunn 与 en:Morgan Fairchild 饰演爱儿卡的新剧团的女演员。[10] 以及 en:Angela Kinsey 饰演幼稚园的顾问。配角包括，珍妮佛·乐芙·休伊、en:Susan Lucci、克雷格·费格斯、en:John Mahoney、en:Michael McMillian、杰·哈林顿、en:Dave Foley以及en:Georgia Engel。第五季也即将进入全系列的第一百集，将会与TV Land的另一个影集吾家有子联合演出，本剧的女角群将前往纽约，“吾家有子”的女角麦迪森正好是维多利亚的前室友。[11] 本季也会有几集与查理与巧克力工厂以及阴尸路以及科学怪人等作品致敬。[12]
