1959年黄石地震

1959年黄石地震（英语：The 1959 Yellowstone earthquake[1]）于8月17日晚上11点37分（北美山地时间）发生在美国蒙大拿州西南部。[1][2]

此次地震震级为7.2，引起了巨大的山崩，导致28人以上死亡，并造成1,100万美元（相当于2022年之1.1亿美元）的损失。阻塞了麦迪逊河（英语：Madison River）的水流，导致了地震湖的形成。附近的爱达荷州和怀俄明州也受到了地震的严重影响，而此次地震对波多黎各和夏威夷州的影响则较小。[3]

1959年的地震是蒙大拿州发生的最强烈、最致命的地震。该次地震还引发了美国西北部自1927年以来最严重的山崩。[3]
