公司由四个游戏开发者共同成立于2000年2月：Tim Train、David Inscore、Jason Coleman和Brian Reynolds。他们的第一款游戏“国家的崛起”在评论界和商业上获得成功。原本的工作室在2012年5月宣告破产，但“Big Huge Games”这个名字在2014年10月被Reynolds和Train合资成立的新公司使用。[2][3][4][5]公司在2015年4月于安卓及iOS推出手机大型多人在线游戏文明争战。[6][7]
