English: OKUNOSHIMA, JAPAN. MUSTARD GAS PLANT AFTER THE FINAL PHASES OF "OPERATION LEWISITE" WHICH WAS CARRIED OUT UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT, BCOF. IT INVOLVED THE DESTRUCTION OF APPROXIMATELY 22000 TONS OF POISON GAS AT THE TADANOUMI BRANCH OF THE TOKYO 2ND ARMY ARSENAL. THE GAS WAS DESTROYED BY DUMPING AT SEA, BY BURNING, AND BY BURIAL.
