The village of Bellevue Chopin lies at the highest point on the Loubiere to Bagatelle Road (supported by UK aid) at the saddle of two catchment areas. Bellevue Chopin is home to the Bellevue Chopin Organic Farmers Group, established in 2004, offering a broad range of organic farm products and a newly installed composting facility. Hurricane Maria impacted on 100% of the agriculture on Dominica. The UK has provided assistance in the distribution of seeds for short cycle crops and tools targeting 1,000 households, with the first harvest expected before Christmas. The small holding worked is an example of how farmers are working to reinstate their crops following Hurricane Maria. |
