微软认证系统工程师

微软认证系统工程师（英语：Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer，简称：MCSE）是微软认证中的高阶认证之一，代表持有认证的专业人员，对微软的服务器，网络技术，系统管理的建置，管理，部署以及维护等工作具有相当的经验与知识，适合网络工程师，系统管理员，系统工程师或网络管理师等职务，在早期与MCSD并行微软的两大高阶认证，最早的版本是Windows NT 3.51，接着在每个Windows Server的版本更新，就会更新MCSE的认证要求，早期的MCSE都要考一科网络知识的必考科目Exam 70-058: Networking Essentials，一直到Windows 2000才纳入Server的考试中。

考试科目

MCSE的考试科目分为核心考科和选考科目两种，核心考科通常会包含网络知识，服务器管理，企业级服务器与网络管理，客户端操作系统等考试，考科数大约4-6科，由于科目很多，对于考生准备与应考上会有相当压力，不过以系统管理与系统工程的角度，以及微软产品的涵盖度来看，考如此多科确有必要。在MCSE on Windows 2000开始，由于对MCSE的资格认可加上了设计的要求，因此在Windows 2000考试中首次出现设计网络架构的考试科目。

核心考试

以Windows Server 2003版本的MCSE为例，其核心考试科目为：

• 客户端考试：
  • Exam 70-270: Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional
• 服务器考试（1）：
  • Exam 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment
• 服务器考试（2）与网络管理：
  • Exam 70-291: Implementing, Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure
• 网络服务规划：
  • Exam 70-293: Planning and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure
• 目录服务规划与实现：
  • Exam 70-294: Planning, Implementing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure
• 网络服务设计（择一应考）：
  • Exam 70-297: Designing a Windows Server 2003 Directory Service and Network Infrastructure
  • Exam 70-298: Designing Security for Windows Server 2003 Network

选考科目

选考科目则是以微软Microsoft Servers（早期称为Microsoft BackOffice）的服务器产品为主，任选二科，像是Systems Management Server，Exchange Server（早期为Microsoft Mail），SQL Server，SNA Server（现为Host Integration Server），Proxy Server（现为Internet Security and Acceleration Server）等等都有列入考科中。

升级考试

MCSE也是微软认证中，最早提供升级考试（Upgrade Exam）的认证，在Windows 2000推出的初期，微软为了要加速Windows NT 4.0的MCSE认证专家们升级到Windows 2000，因此特别设计了一个限时的考试科目：Exam 70-240: Microsoft Windows 2000 Accelerated Exam for MCPs Certified on Windows NT 4.0，供Windows NT 4.0的MCSE升级之用。到了Windows Server 2003时代，微软同样的开发升级考试给MCSE on Windows 2000的认证专家利用，日后升级考试的策略也在其他系列的认证中开始提供。

• MCSE 2000或MCSA 2000升级到Windows Server 2003认证的升级考试：
  • Exam 70-292: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment for MCSA Certified on Windows 2000
  • Exam 70-296: Planning, Implementing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment for MCSE Certified on Windows 2000

后续认证

由于微软新一代认证层次结构的推展，MCSE已被MCITP取代，但现行的MCSE on Windows 2000和MCSE on Windows Server 2003仍为永久有效。
