Français : Représentation enluminée des versets 1 à 3 du chapitre XI du Livre d’Isaïe. Arbre de Jessé avec Vierge à l'enfant représentant la fleur de la dernière tige, sur laquelle repose l'Esprit du Seigneur, ici incarné par une colombe auréolée. De part et d'autre de la figure mariale, deux anges apportent un édifice chacun. La Vierge tient un chardon symbolisant les arma Christi. L'enfant Jésus lève la main droite dans un geste de bénédiction. Une légende à l'encre brune est écrite en latin sous la figure de Jessé: Eg[re]diet[ur] Virga : « Une tige sortira » (Livre d’Isaïe, XI, 1)
English: Verses 1 to 3 of the Book of Isaiah Chapter 11 depicted on illuminated manuscript: the Jesse Tree with an upright branch, surmounted by the Mother & Child, flanked by two angels who each bring them a monument. In the shape of a dove with halo, the Spirit of the Lord rests on the Mother & Child. Virgin’s right hand is carrying Jesus, whereas her left is holding out a thistle as arma Christi. As far as Christ Child is concerned, his right hand is obviously extending in a gesture of blessing. There is a brown ink quote written in Latin under Jesse's body: Eg[re]diet[ur] Virga: "A shoot will come up" (Book of Isaiah, 11: 1)
