Please note: In 2018 Fraunhofer-ISE published an update of the 2013 study. A figure based on the updated cost estimation is available here: File:Levelized cost of electricity Germany 2018 ISE.png Calculation basis assumes a given annual global horizontal irradiation (GHI, in kilowatt-hours per square meter) for photovoltaics and a certain number of annual full load hours (FLH) for wind turbines, biogas, and conventional power plants. Investment related factors are also taken into account. ▇ PV system —utility scale, annual GHI of 1000 to 1200 kWh/m² ▇ Wind power—onshore, annual FLH of 1300 to 2700 hours ▇ Wind power—offshore, annual FLH of 2800 to 4000 hours ▇ Biogas, annual FLH of 6000 to 8000 hours ▇ Coal—lignite, annual FLH of 6600 to 7600 hours ▇ Coal—hard, annual FLH of 5500 to 6500 hours ▇ CCGT Combined cycle—natural gas, annual FLH of 3000 to 4000 hours |
