弗雷德里克·埃德温·丘奇
弗雷德里克·埃德温·丘奇（Frederic Edwin Church，1826年5月4日-1900年4月7日）是一位美国风景画家[1]，他是托马斯·科尔的学生，也是第二代哈德逊河派的中心人物之一。他的作品主要以他在美洲旅行时看到的山川、落日等宏伟的景观为主，晚年也画过一些城市景观及地中海和中东的景色。

丘奇是伊莱扎（Eliza née Janes）和约瑟夫·丘奇（Joseph Church）的儿子，他家的收入来自身为银匠和表匠的丘奇的父亲约瑟夫，约瑟夫后来还成为了Aetna的一名主管。富裕的家境使得丘奇可以在很年轻的时候就开始探寻艺术，18岁时，丘奇在卡茨基尔受原来的邻居丹尼尔·沃兹沃斯（Daniel Wadsworth）引荐，成为了托马斯·科尔的学生[2]。
追随老师的脚步，丘奇成为了第二代哈德逊河派的核心人物[3][4]。他多次前往美洲各地寻找创作灵感，绘出了一大批价值极高的风景画。
家庭 编辑
1860年，丘奇在纽约州的哈德逊买下了一间农场，并娶伊莎贝尔·卡恩斯（Isabel Carnes）为妻。他们的长子与长女都在1865年3月死于白喉，1866年伊莎贝尔产下弗雷德里克·约瑟夫（Frederic Joseph）。当子女增加到四人后，他们开始到世界各地旅游。1867年前往欧洲和中东地区，在这一时期丘奇也重新开始创作大幅画作。[5]
在旅行开始前，丘奇购置了大约十八英亩的山头。1870年开始在此建造波斯风格的房屋，1872年全家都搬到了这栋新居里。理查德·莫里斯·亨特是丘奇的主要建筑师和顾问。这栋别墅后来成为了美国国家历史地标，即奥拉纳州立历史遗址（Olana State Historic Site）。[2]
