色情研究

色情研究（英语：Porn studies）是指对色情作品及相关行业的学术批判研究。此一研究领域通常落在性研究的范畴之下[1]。色情研究将色情作品视为研究对象去研究，当中可能会探讨其内容、文化角色、争议、对大众的影响[2]、研究者所采用的方法[3]。色情研究的发展已为同名出版物所带动。

研究主题

色情研究的聚焦点有很多，其中包括研究男同志色情制品的内容（及其怎样理想化男性气质）[4]、日本成人影片的生产方式及其历史[5][6]、分析成人漫画的文本[7][8]。

除了性研究外，色情研究还属于批判研究的范畴。因此它会“解读特定观点和做法的关键所在……承认文化的复杂性，意识到历史上媒体和性的建构方式如何转变”[9]。

理论基础

社会建构论为色情研究的理论基础。因此，从事色情研究的学者对于“色情作品怎样影响社会”此类经验性问题并不感兴趣。在过往，大多有关色情作品的研究都聚焦于探讨它们对人对社会有着怎样的影响[10][11]、色情作品是否对公众健康构成坏影响[12]、它们是否有利于社会[13]，同时很少有研究者探讨研究色情作品时的固有规范[3] 。

色情研究的探究方式跟社会科学中的实证主义方法相对立，后者“掩盖了科学范式的主观性、规范性、意识形态”[3]。

公众讨论

从事色情研究的学者有时需面对来自大専院校管理层的道德恐慌。后者可能会担心让学生在课上接触有关物品会产生怎样的后果。他们亦可能会考虑到法律上的有关管制[1]。部分反色情女性主义者认为《色情研究》是一份支持色情作品，本身并无维持中立原则的期刊[14]。
