超新星候选列表是天文学家提出将成为超新星前身的恒星。II型超新星的前身包括演化至最后阶段的质量仍然大于10倍太阳质量的恒星(在这个质量范围内的恒星,著名的例子包括心宿二、角宿一[1]、天社一[2] 仙王座μ和五合星团中的一些成员[3]。)。Ia型超新星的前身是接近钱德拉塞卡极限,经由伴星吸积至大约是1.44太阳质量的白矮星。这张表也包括大质量的沃夫-瑞叶星,它们可能会成为Ia/Ib超新星。
