针刺家蚁属（Daceton）为家蚁亚科，分布于新热带[2]。具有触发式大颚（trap-jaw）。

本属只有两个物种 D. armigerum 和 D. boltoni 。D. armigerum 的研究较多，栖息于南美洲北部的雨林中[3]，而 D. boltoni 则分布于巴西和秘鲁[4]。
习性 编辑
针刺家蚁居住在枝条或树干中，由其他昆虫挖出的孔洞中。工蚁具有多形性，小型工蚁负责育幼，大型工蚁则出外捕食和御敌[5][6]。工蚁单独觅食，可捕食苍蝇、蚱蜢、蛾和甲虫的幼虫和成虫、蜡蝉[5]。有些工蚁还会照顾介壳虫[5]。Daceton armigerum 的工蚁可以在空中改变落下的方向[7]。
