Notability

事物可提及程度和衡量其价值程度的一种属性

notablity(字面意思是“可提及性”),是一种属性,指某人或某事值得提及、关注、有名望、有吸引力、重要性或表现卓越。notability也可以指变得有名望、有吸引力、重要性或表现卓越的能力。因为担任公职、承担公共责任、成就,甚至只因与名流有交集而受关注的人,他们都拥有公众形象(public profile)。 [1]

美学哲学中,审美评价也有这个概念。[2]有人批评一些艺术画廊以艺术品的估值或货币价值来决定展示什么作品,这种方法是基于艺术家的关注度,而忽略了艺术作品的内在素质。

notability也决定了新闻报道中所覆盖的主题。[3]营销人员和媒体可能会尝试营造notability,籍此营造名人名声或恶名,或者增加产品销量,例子有黄色新闻

和普通人相比,人们有时会更关注特权阶级人士。[4][5]在线百科全书维基百科中,主题的notability决定了条目是否能够收录在百科全书内。[6][7]

和notability有关的论证,可以使用到传递关系直言三段论。如果所有A都有notability,而x是一个A,那么根据三段论,x有notability。但如果A有notability,而x是A的其中一部分,那么x就不一定有notability。如果x比y更有notability,而y比z更有notability,那么x就比z更有notability,但是如果x觉得A有notability,而A是B的子集,那么x不一定认为B有notability。[8]
