驴皮记

《驴皮记》（La Peau de chagrin），法国作家巴尔扎克巨著《人间喜剧》系列作品，1831年发表，是“哲理研究”中最有世界影响的一篇，甫出版就引起了德国文豪歌德的强烈兴趣，他说“生命里有二种悲剧，一是得不到任何的悲剧；一是得到一切后的悲剧。”并断言“这是一部新型的小说”。

小说叙述一名贵族出身的青年瓦朗坦破产后投身到社交场所，落得穷途未路，准备投水自杀时，一个古董商给了他一张印有天竺文字的驴皮，这张驴皮能为主人实现任何愿望，但愿望一经实现，驴皮会立刻缩小，自己的寿命也随之缩短。瓦朗坦开始从掳获金钱的快感，去填壑无尽的欲望，另一方面象征他生命的驴皮也逐步的缩小，将他带往死亡，瓦朗坦猛然惊觉，死神已临近身旁，眼睁睁地看着自己的末日来临。
