Free Lives
Free Lives是一间位于南非开普敦的电子游戏开发公司，于2012年由伊万·格林伍德创办。公司首部发行作为《敢死队3》所改编的同名游戏，于2014年由Devolver Digital发行，其为当时开发中游戏《武装原型》的独立扩展包。目前，公司已开发的七部游戏，除了《武士战》外皆由Devolver Digital发行。此外有两部游戏《愤怒的大脚》和《打不倒的火柴人》预定于2023年发行。

成立背景 编辑
公司创办人伊万·格林伍德曾一直在南非的其他游戏工作室工作，然而他欲自己创业。[1]2012年，格林伍德成立Free Lives。[2]公司工作室位于南非开普敦郊区中，[2]房子部分用于工作，另外一部分则为住所。[3]
游戏开发 编辑
Free Lives涉足电子游戏产业是在2012年4月Game Jam第23届Ludum Dare举办之时。团队以像素2D射击游戏《Rambros》参赛，最终凭借画面与幽默，在比赛的有趣类别夺冠。因此，团队继续对游戏增添调整内容，并在官方网站上发布免费试玩版。[4]因开发游戏需要庞大资金，公司曾为开发不断凑钱借钱，负债累累。[5][6]2013年，游戏以《武装原型》为名登上Steam“青睐之光”，并在7月24日通过“青睐之光”。[4][7]在开发时，Free Lives收到狮门影业的合作邮件，2014年时发行了《武装原型》的独立扩展包，当时新电影《敢死队3》所改编的同名游戏，以宣传电影。[8][9]又在柏林A MAZE 独立游戏节遇到发行商Devolver Digital，成功与其签订合约。[10]《武装原型》终于2015年年初发行抢先体验版，[5]首三周销量达45000份，得以为公司纾解财务压力，专注游戏开发。[5][6]
2016年所开发的《武士战》由Humble Bundle在十二月捆绑收藏包中发行，为当月以“Humble Original”冠名的首发游戏。[11]年末，Free Lives在Steam发行新作聚会游戏《鸡鸡的战争》抢先体验版。游戏中，玩家需控制阴茎状的生物互相追逐和插入。团队指男性为合群不会与朋友讨论肛交等话题，因此希望能够以游戏带动讨论，传递这方面的正面信息。[12]因为游戏含阴茎，所以被禁止发行在Xbox和PlayStation游戏平台上，[2]也遭到直播平台Twitch的禁止。[13]Devolver Digital的共同创办人奈吉尔·洛利询问Steam能否在游戏页面上直播，Steam碰巧在研发相关功能。《鸡鸡的战争》因而成为Steam实况直播的首款游戏。[13]
2019年，Devolver Digital发行了两部由Free Lives所开发的格斗游戏，分别为支持HTC Vive和Oculus Rift的虚拟现实游戏《角斗士觉醒》和透过Apple Arcade发行的《板球编年》。[14][15]2023年3月29日，城市建造游戏《伊始之地》发行。[16]两部游戏包括《愤怒的大脚》和《打不倒的火柴人》亦预定于当年发行。[17][18]
