2024年1月22日，SOURCE MUSIC宣布LE SSERAFIM将于2月19日发行她们的第三张迷你专辑《EASY》。[1]2月7日，官方公开了包含五首歌曲的音乐试听影片，[2]隔天揭露了专辑的完整曲目清单，确认《Smart》是其中一首歌曲。[3][4]3月4日，歌曲的音乐录影带预告片发布[5]，3月5日正式上线完整的音乐录影带。[6]3月20日进一步宣布《Smart》的英语版本及多种混音版本将于3月22日推出。[7]

《Smart》由制作团队"13"中的Score和Megatone担任编曲和制作，并由Supreme Boi、Arineh Karimi、BB Elliot、Zzz、房时爀、Paige Garabito、Jasmin Lee Maming、Teodor Herrgårdh、Hadar Adora、Charli、李恩华（Lee Eun-hwa）以及LE SSERAFIM成员许允真共同参与创作。[4]这首歌被形容为一首受非洲流行音乐启发的Amapiano风格歌曲，[8]使用C#大调编写，节奏每分钟113拍。[9]
