网页开发者可以使用Stripe在无需开设商家账户下在网上接受付款[3]。Stripe在付款后两天内等候期检查交易所涉及的公司以防止潜在的诈骗，然后Stripe便会把资金发送到收款人的户口[4]。

帕特里克·科里森和约翰·科里森在2010年成立了Stripe[4]，该创始公司初期名叫“/dev/payments”。这个名字在公司外经常被人拼错造成了混淆，所以便改名为“Stripe”[5]。2010年6月，Stripe由Y Combinator获得了种子基金[1]。2011年5月，Stripe由投资者彼得·泰尔和投资公司红杉资本及安德森霍洛维茨中获取了200万美元[6]。2012年2月，Stripe在红杉资本所带领的一轮A系列投资中获取180万美元，估值达一亿美元[7]。Stripe在大规模的私人Beta测试后在2011年9月公开推出[8]。在公开推出后不足一年，Stripe便由General Catalyst Partners、红杉资本、彼得·泰尔、Redpoint Ventures、克里斯·迪克森和亚伦·莱维的B系列投资中获取二千万美元投资[9]。2013年3月，Stripe收购了任务管理程序Kickoff[10]。

- 2019年1月29日，E+轮融资，Stripe获得 Tiger Global Management 独家投资的1亿美金资金。
- 2019年9月19日，G轮融资，Stripe获得 Andreessen Horowitz 和 General Catalyst领投，Sequoia Capital跟投的2.5亿美元投资。[12]
- 2020年4月16日，G+轮融资，Sequoia Capital、Andreessen Horowitz、GV和General Catalyst共同投资了6亿美金。
- 2020年5月28日，Stripe通过二级市场获得个人投资者Jean-Sébastien Wallez的投资。
- 2021年3月14日，H轮融资，Stripe获得 Allianz X, AXA Group, Baillie Gifford, Fidelity Management and Research Company, National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) 和 Sequoia Capital 共同投资的6亿美元资金。[12]
