dont you think that using the term 中东 is shameful? i by using this term, you are basically admiting that china is in fact not at the centre of the universe and that europe is. if china was in fact at the centre, shouldnt the middle east be refered to as the middle west? as it is the midpoint to the west.

如果中东是中东的话呢就表示中国不是中国。如果中国是在中间的话呢中东就应该是中西。

• 那“中国”不也就是中国中心，应该删除？还有“东方”和“西方”也是以旧大陆为基准点，如果你从美洲看的话美洲的东方是欧洲和非洲，西方是亚洲和大洋洲，难不成也都不能用了？Yel D'ohan（留言） 2016年11月2日 (三) 18:32 (UTC)

和英文版本有所出入

在本条目的“地理概述”一项中提到：

““中东”是一个严格的地理术语。”

但英文版本的内容和中文版本中的“严格”有点出入，文中指出“中东”一词，并无清晰或公认的定义，以下转贴英文版本以作参考： The Middle East is a historical and geographical region of Africa-Eurasia with no clear definition; it traditionally includes countries or regions in Southwest Asia and parts of North Africa.

以下一段亦指出其‘定义不明确而经常引起抨击’： Many have criticized the term for a number of reasons, often due to its loose definition. The United Nations avoids the phrase entirely and officially refers to the region as "Southwest Asia," while other critics advise using the more general "West Asia."

本人并非相关专业人士，希望有心人能查证那一个说法比较正确，谢谢。

不该以欧洲中心用语当条目

中东既是个欧洲中心用语，亚洲语言的页面就不该再使用为条目名！

强烈建议：

　建立〝中亚〞条目，将此内容复制过去。

　将〝中东〞条目重新导向到〝中亚〞条目去。
