宝瓶座FO是由白矮星与主序星组成的联星系统,轨道周期4.85小时[4]。宝瓶座FO因为周期20.9分的极强烈可见光脉冲辐射而闻名,而这个脉冲周期与吸积中的白矮星的自转周期相对应[5]。2016年以前,宝瓶座FO的长期可见光亮度在视星等12.7至14.2之间变化[6]。但在2016年初,宝瓶座FO的亮度曾经下降到更低的15.8等,之后缓慢恢复到原本的亮度;这样的变化显示两颗恒星之间的质量传递率曾经暂时性地下降[7]
