Biography
编辑Born in Anaheim, California, USA in 1962, Mike Cohn received his master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Idaho in northern Idaho, USA. Having a research interest in Agile project management, he specializes in communicating needs and achieving Agile project goals through user stories[4].
Mike Cohn began his career in the early 1980s as a Programmer using C and C++. He ran his first Scrum project in 1995 and has been a vocal proponent of Scrum ever since. With over 30 years of experience in a variety of environments, Cohn became an expert in helping companies adopt and improve their use of Agile processes and techniques to build extremely high-performance development organizations. He is a Scrum trainer for Mountain Goat Software.[1]
In 2004, Mike Cohn wrote a book named User Stories Applied that provides a front-to-back blueprint for writing user stories and using them for the planning, management and testing of the development lifecycle[5]. In 2005, Mike Cohn published another book, Agile Estimating and Planning, which details how to employ Agile planning in a succinct, practical, and easy-to-follow manner[6]. In 2009, Mike Cohn published his third book titled Succeeding With Agile: Software Development Using Scrum to provide his experiences working with many different organizations and practical approaches in the adoption of Agile methods[7].
Mike Cohn, in his role at Scrum Alliance, he is an avid proponent of stand-up meetings[1] to keep the team focused, usually in a small niche in the hallway or office, because people tend to procrastinate when sitting down. Getting together for a very focused and concentrated discussion takes only a short time, and the team can get back to work immediately following the discussion without occupying too much time.
Mike Cohn encourages teams to make their own rules to help them realize if they are straying from whatever they want to do. Most teams that have tried this approach find it satisfying. They’ll have a rubber rat or two around where they’re meeting, and in case of a stray, somebody will hold up a rat to indicate to their coworkers they’re going down a rat hole and should get back to the meeting topic and focus on the discussion[1].
