《牛津解密》（英語：The Professor and the Madman，中國大陸譯《教授與瘋子》），2019年美國與愛爾蘭合拍的傳記劇情片，由法爾哈德·撒夫尼亞（英語：Farhad Safinia）執導，撒夫尼亞和托德·考馬爾尼基（英語：Todd Komarnicki）編劇，改編自1998年著作《教授與瘋子（英語：The Surgeon of Crowthorne）》。影片由梅爾·吉布森、西恩·潘、娜塔莉·多莫、埃迪·馬森、詹妮弗·艾莉、傑瑞米·歐文、大衛·奧哈拉、艾恩·古福特、斯蒂芬·迪蘭和史蒂夫·庫根聯合出演。

影片主角之一是於1879年開始編撰《牛津英語詞典》並主導編委會的詹姆斯·穆雷，另一位是布羅德莫精神病院（英語：Broadmoor Hospital）接受治療時遞交了1萬個詞條的醫生威廉·切斯特·米諾[3]。

影片於2016年正式投拍前，梅爾·吉布森歷經20年時間改編《教授與瘋子（英語：The Surgeon of Crowthorne）》。吉布森原想執導電影，但後來僱傭了之前和他在電影《啟示》中合作過的法爾哈德·撒夫尼亞（英語：Farhad Safinia）擔任導演，而他則飾演主角詹姆斯·穆雷。2016年8月，西恩·潘就飾演電影主角威廉·切斯特·米諾進入初步談判[4]。8月，娜塔莉·多莫加盟劇組[5]，9月艾恩·古福特加入[6]。

影片於2016年9月在都柏林開拍[7][8]，劇照11月公布，斯蒂芬·迪蘭、勞倫斯·福克斯和詹妮弗·艾莉現身劇組[9][10]。

不過，影片在製作期間也出現了一些法律問題。2017年7月，吉布森的電影公司艾肯影業起訴垂直影業過渡控制影片製作的某些概念，指他們拒絕了成片剪輯的特權，而是要求在牛津在多拍五天的戲[11][12]。2018年6月19日，洛杉磯縣高等法院（英語：Los Angeles County Superior Court）法官魯斯·關（Ruth Kwan）作出判決，否認了吉布森方作即決判決（英語：Summary adjudication）的動議[13]。隨後於2019年4月，雙方就多項訴訟達成秘密和解，吉布森和撒夫尼亞隨後發表聯合聲明，表示項目背離他們本來的想法，稱沃爾太奇影業發行的版本「非常令人失望」[14]。之後影片的宣傳活動他們都沒有參加，撒夫尼亞不承認自己在電影中的導演和編劇工作，製作人員名單給出了他的花名「P. B. Shemran」[15]。

2019年3月和4月，影片在美國海外地區發行。垂直娛樂（英語：Vertical Entertainment）奪得美國地區發行權後[16]，影片於2019年5月10日在美國影院和點播平台上映[17]，但上映銀幕數量和國內票房數據未有公布[18]。

匯總媒體爛番茄評論17條，新鮮度41%，平均分5.38/10[19]。Metacritic評論4條，平均分僅25/100，表示「口碑普遍較差」[20]。RogerEbert.com（英語：RogerEbert.com）的尼克·艾倫（Nick Allen）打出1.5星（滿分4星），認為「這是爛片史上最新一次慘敗」，「主演吉布森和佩恩的存在給項目帶來悶悶不樂的感覺」[21]。《綜藝》的傑伊·魏斯伯格（Jay Weissberg）：「對於那些已經預料到這種稀奇、一波三折的變數的人們來說，好消息是吉布森狀態還不錯，其他東西都不在線[22]。」
