Investopedia由Cory Wagner和Cory Janssen於1999年在加拿大艾伯塔省埃德蒙頓成立，當時恰逢互聯網泡沫。Wagner專注於業務開發和研發，而Janssen專注於營銷和銷售。Investopedia每月吸引約250萬用戶，並提供金融詞典功能，其中包含來自個人理財、銀行業和會計的5300多個術語。它還提供金融專家撰寫的數千篇深入分析的文章以及股票模擬器。[2]
2007年，《福布斯》以未公開的價格收購了Investopedia.com。[3]
2010年，《福布斯》以4200萬美元的價格將Investopedia出售給ValueClick Inc.。[4]
2013年，IAC / InterActive Corp以8000萬美元的價格從ValueClick Inc.收購了Investopedia.com，作為其互聯網資產的一部分。[5]
