〝Related to your point Brian, there's a new way of life that is dawning upon me which is really trying to suck the marrow out of life, treating every moment as sacred, which means doing your absolute best in everything and being super prepared, super aware, super present for it.
That means not necessarily just giving a damn all the time or working all the time - it just means that for every moment that you are having, you are there for that moment, and you're extracting the most from that moment that you possibly can.〞
Which really just boils down to constant awareness. It's not a watchword like〝being present,〞but it is treating whatever remains of your life as sacred and holy and important and fundamental and not just letting the minutes fly by while you are on autopilot.
Miyamoto Musashi famously said〝Do nothing that is of no use.〞Elon said,〝What have you done this week? What did you get done this week?〞And you just quoted me on〝The real performance enhancing drug is giving a damn,〞but it's not really just about performance, it's not really just about getting things done. It's not really just about accomplishment.
It's making sure that literally every moment you have on this planet, whether it's with your children, whether it's relaxing, whether it's reading…it's deliberate. It's conscious. It's aware and it's done in such a way that you are fully there for it…trying it out, it's kind of more of a realization not necessarily a way of life, not something for you to copy, not something for you to do…
But I hope that you will all see that as life gets shorter and shorter remaining that each moment becomes more and more precious.〞
