线上报纸是电子出版的报纸，无论是作为一个独立的出版物，或作为一个印刷的在线期刊。

线上报纸为传统报纸创造了更多的机会，比如与之竞争以更及时的方式的广播新闻主导的头条新闻。报业的信誉和强势的品牌知名度，以及与广告主的密切关系，也为报业界的许多人所看到，增加了他们的生存机会。^[1]
