天大将军九(三角座β,β Tri)它是一对联星[11],与地球的距离大约是127光年[1]。它是三角座中最亮的星,但在拜耳命名法中是β星,视星等只有3.0等[12]。

它是一对光谱联星,轨道周期31.39天,离心率0.53[6],两颗星之间的距离小于5天文单位[13]。主星的光谱类型为A5IV,显示它在演化上已经离开主序带,现在是一颗次巨星。然而,这与由轨道推导得到的质量不一致,所以分类还不能确定[7]。在依巴谷卫星的观测资料中,它有0.0005星等的光度变化,是变光幅度最小的变星[14]。
根据2005年的史匹哲太空望远镜的观测结果报告,这个系统有过量的红外线辐射。这种现象通常可以用周围有岩屑盘来解释,是温度低于100K的尘埃发出的红外线辐射[13]。它被认为与恒星的距离在50至400天文单位[7]。
