白宫社交秘书是白宫社交办公室的负责人。其负责策划总统几乎一切的社交活动。社交秘书与白宫首席招待员合作，协调工作人员，并与美国礼宾司（来自美国国务院的一名官员）合作计划国事访问和伴随的国宴。同时与白宫图形和书法办公室合作制作社交活动的邀请函。

社交秘书履行总统的政治和非政治职能，协调总统、第一夫人和高级政治官员的活动。其根据总统的意愿任命，并且每届新政府都会进行任命。

知名的社交秘书 编辑

2011 年 2 月 25 日，杰里米·伯纳德(Jeremy Bernard) 受到白宫任命，成为了该职位历史上第一位公开同性恋身份的社交秘书。伯纳德在宣布的新闻发布会上表示：“我长期以来一直钦佩政府所进行的艺术和教育项目，这些项目已成为奥巴马政府的标志，我渴望在未来几年继续努力。”[1][2][3]
