道格斯岛

道格斯岛（英语：Isle of Dogs）是伦敦东区的一个地区，也是泰晤士河泥沙堆积形成的最大半岛之一。[1]

“Isle of Dogs”之名最早出现在1519年至1523年间写成的《亨利八世信函》（Letters & Papers of Henry VIII）中，实际上关于其名的一个说法就是亨利八世曾把他的猎犬养在这座岛上。[2]
1898年的《谚语和寓言词典》（Dictionary of Phrase and Fable）中说岛名中的“Dogs”（狗）指的是爱德华三世的一群猎犬灰狗。也有人认为其原名应该是“Isle of Ducks”（鸭岛），因为按古代记录岛上有许多野鸭，但后世讹传为现名。[3]除此以外还有一系列其他理论，但众说纷纭，未有定论。
