预先审查
预先审查（voir dire /ˈvwɑːr dɪər/；日语：忌避(kihi)；预备询问；陪审员资格预审程序；审讯中的审讯；陪审员的审查程序；案中案；一切照实陈述；个案选任）在英美法系里，是与陪审团审判或证人取择有关的各种程序之法律用语；意即预先考查选取证人或陪审员是否为合乎法庭审判合格需求之预先审核程序。预先审查起初其词义是指陪审员宣誓讲真话（拉丁语：verum dicere；speak the truth）之意；即说出什么是真实的、什么是客观准确的、或主观诚实的，或两者兼而有之。"预先审查"(voir dire)根据梅里亚姆-韦伯斯特词典，voir dire 这个词语它来自盎格鲁-诺曼语。
在"voir dire"这个词中，"voir"（或 "voire"）来自古法语，源于拉丁语"verum"，其意思为“这是真的”。"voir"与现代法语的单词"voire"有关，意思即“这是确实的说法”；但它不是这个较常见的"voir"（to see；查看）。"voir"来自拉丁语"vidēre"。威廉·布莱克史东将"voir dire"释为"veritatem dicere"，[1]再由约翰·温特·琼斯翻译其意为“说实话”(To speak the truth)。[2]然而，这种表达法现在通常被以虚假词源解释为“看（他们）说”(to see [them] say)。"voir dire"这个术语在现代加拿大法律法语中表示为"le voir-dire"。
