3月12日，所属经纪公司宣布防弹少年团将于4月12日携新专辑《Map of the Soul: Persona》回归乐坛。届时将在4月13日透过美国电视节目《Saturday Night Live》带来新曲回归初舞台。[3]

3月28日，官方频道公开了最新专辑《Map of the Soul: Persona》的专辑回归预告〈Persona〉，由队长RM以个人RAP演出的形式为新专辑回归揭开序幕。[4]〈Persona〉首日赞好达到256万，成为韩国个人歌手中最高纪录，并于4月3日登上美国告示牌榜单“YouTube Songs Music Chart”的第17名，成为史上第一支上榜的韩团回归预告片。[5]4月8日，官方Youtube频道释出了专辑《Map of the Soul: Persona》主打歌〈Boy With Luv〉的音乐录影带预告，在公开后10小时便吸引超过800万人次观看，歌曲将与美国歌手Halsey首次合作。[6]截至4月11日，新专辑预售量已达到302万1822张。[7]

4月12日，官方Youtube频道释出了〈Boy with Luv〉的音乐录影带，在公开后2小时52分钟便突破1千万次观看次数，13小时13分钟突破5千万观看次数，刷新了自身去年特别四辑〈IDOL（英语：Idol (BTS song)）〉所保持的纪录。[8]4月13日，〈Boy with Luv〉在公开首日达到7805万观看次数，成为Youtube上全球影片中首日最多观看次数的音乐录影带。[9]
