编辑腹外侧核接收来自基底核,包括黑质和苍白球透过丘脑束的神经元输入。它也接收来自小脑透过齿状丘脑束（英语：dentatothalamic tract）的输入，将神经元输出发送到初级运动皮层和前运动区。 腹外侧核与腹前核共同形成丘脑中的运动功能部门。[1]
功能
编辑The function of the ventral lateral nucleus is to target efferents including the motor cortex, premotor cortex, and supplementary motor cortex. Therefore, its function helps the coordination and planning of movement. It also plays a role in the learning of movement.[2]
