英国东北铁路

英国东北铁路公司（NER）曾是英国的一家铁路公司。它于1845年由数家当时现有的铁路公司合并而成。随后1923年，它与其它铁路公司根据1921年英国铁路法合并成为伦敦及东北铁路公司（LNER）

约克零点柱。约克车站中心是北东铁路公司测量十条铁路线的零点，包括通往贝弗利、哈罗盖特、纽卡斯尔、诺曼顿和斯卡伯勒的线路。这个复制的零点柱由北东铁路协会建立，得到了铁路遗产信托和肯·胡尔信托的财务支援，以纪念北东铁路公司于1854年7月31日成立的150周年。它由铁路遗产信托主席威廉·麦克艾尔宾爵士在2004年7月31日揭幕。

东北铁路公司主要的铁路线路位于英格兰东北部地区，连接了一些重要城市和镇，包括纽卡斯尔、达勒姆（Durham）、米德尔斯堡（Middlesbrough）、约克（York）等。该公司的铁路网络起初主要用于运输煤炭和其他工业原料，后来随著工业和人口的增长，它也开始运营客运服务。

东北铁路公司在其运营范围内建设了众多重要的铁路设施，包括车站、桥梁和隧道等。它对于该地区的经济发展和交通连通起到了重要作用。然而，在20世纪初，英国铁路业进行了重组和国有化，东北铁路公司于1923年与其他铁路公司合并，成为了伦敦北东铁路（London and North Eastern Railway，LNER）的一部分。

东北铁路公司是英国最早采用电力牵引的干线铁路公司之一，较兰开夏郡和约克郡铁路公司开通利物浦和绍斯波特之间的第一条电气化线路还早一个礼拜。
