Can I write in English and Japanese? I'm afraid I cannot answer your question properly: I see the website you introduced: 君士坦丁堡宗主教的, if it means XXX of Constantinople, 宗主教 may be Patriarch. Not the pope. Popes are the title for Patriarches of Rome and Alexandria(see the below):

858 Photios was appointed to the Patriarch of Constantinople, though he had not been in priesthood. I suppose this text refer to the matter, so I assume 宗主教 is equivalent to 総主教 in Japanese. 佛西要 may be Photios. 彼於東正教聖人也。

此文只在一處說到Patriarch,也就是闡述基督教分離之前的等級制度。而宗主教條目已經說明：宗主教「在東正教方面按習慣翻譯為牧首。」兩者並不衝突。又你引的文章從未提到「牧首」二字，我懷疑作者本人作為新教徒根本不知道有此名號。而同時中國正教會翻譯的文章中也將該神職譯為「牧首」，可見此「牧首」應該是比較公允的譯名。—Sqchen (留言) 2008年5月26日 (一) 10:07 (UTC)

Well, I expect your generocity to let me write in English ...

There are (in my opinion) a confusion about Eastern Rite in the Western world, because it is anyway unfamiliar to the majority in it.

Officially "Eastern Orthodox Church" is 東方正教會 in Japanese and possibly 東正教 in my understanding. I think therefore the current interwiki between en and zh on this article appropriate.

However the Westerner prefer to say "Eastern Christianity" and they use this term in two ways. 1) an alternate addresssing of Eastern Orthodox Church (since it is the biggest denomination among Eastern Christianity) and 2) "comprising four families of churches" as listed on the above.

In Japanese, for your information, Eastern Orthodox Church are disticnt from other Eastern churches as 東方正教會 and 東方諸教會. Another difficulty of naming convention may come from the custom both churches prefer to call themselves with the name "Orthodox".

Let me summarize the relevant names:

• 東正教 ja: 東方正教會 en: Eastern Orthodox Church (sometimes referred as Orthodox)
• ? ja: 東方諸教會 en: Assyrian Church of the East + Oriental Orthodox Churches
  • Note: sometimes "Oritental Orthodox" is considered to refer to both churches, as churches which don't keep all faith of the first seven councils. Historically "non-Melkites" was used, and perhaps still today, but Englishg Wikipedia seems to prefer to avoid using this term.
• ? ja: 東方教會 en: Eastern Christianity
• ? ja:東方典禮教會 en: Eastern Catholic Churches　(They follow the Roman Pope as Catholic but keep the Eastern tradition of liturgy).

建議改名：「正教會」→「正教」

「正教會」 → 「正教」：本條目講述的是正教本身，而不是正教的教會，不要總是按照英語維基百科來取名，你看人家俄語維基百科用的就是Православие，用的就是「正教」而不是什麼「正教會」。--MacArthur1945（留言） 2014年10月19日 (日) 12:38 (UTC)

命名與開頭段

Iokseng MacArthur1945此條目對應的英文版講的是東正教（不包括東方正統教），但沒有對應的俄文版。俄語維基百科中Православие指的是廣義的正教。其實條目名稱是叫「正教」或者「正教會」甚至於「東正教」都可以，但要在正文部分明確此條目講述的是」狹義「的正教。 另外我不反對加俄語名稱，但還應當加上希臘語，因為這兩個國家（對希臘而言更確切的是文明）與正教的相互影響都至為深遠。 Dobranoc（留言） 2014年12月5日 (五) 05:34 (UTC)

@MacArthur1945：東正教會包括教會傳統、教義、歷史、結構、法律。東正教會的理論、思想即東正教。

@Iokseng：贊同您的觀點，請見下致 U: Dobranoc 的內容。但就我所知，英語沒有 'Orthodox Christianity' 的說法。按英語思維，東正教會、東方正教會、公教會、新教會均爲基督教的派別、教會，而非一個個宗教。漢語所謂「新教」，牛津解釋英語 Protestantism 爲新教各教會的信仰、習慣、與教會結構，亦非一個宗教。英語沒有「正教」一詞，只有正統性 orthodoxy、正教會 Orthodox Church。如同新教會包括新教會抗議宗運動的眾多教會，正教會亦包括東正教會、東方正教會。所謂「東方基督教」、「西方基督教」、「早期基督教」，描述基督教在各地、各教會發展的情況與歷史，但無論何時、何地、何教會，總是一神、一主、一教。

@Dobranoc：此條目對應英文「東正教會」條目，可見此條目命名爲「正教會」何其謬誤！名從主人，東正教會（Eastern）當命名爲正教會，但是東方正教會（Oriental）亦是正教會。我的觀點是，若依名從主人慣例，不免有失中立性。分別命名爲東正教會、東方正統教會，合稱正教會，符合常用名稱原則，則更佳。 — XComhghall talk 2021年8月25日 (三) 09:15 (UTC)
