狐狸座SV是为在狐狸座的造父变星。它是一颗次巨星,距离地球大约8,000光年。
狐狸座SV 这颗造父变星的视星等范围在6.72至7.79,周期为45.0121天。光变曲线高度的不对称,从极小上升到极大只是从极大到极小的三分之一[10]。周期并以每年214秒的速率衰减[9]。
狐狸座SV是一颗黄色的次巨星,光度约是太阳的20,000倍,光谱类型从晚期的F型变化至早期的K型。它的脉动和温度变化范围会低于5,000度并超过6,000度[8],半径是最大时为216.5 R☉,胀缩的范围在188 R☉至238 R☉[7]。
狐狸座SV 的质量现在大约是15 M☉,并且估计在主序列时大约为17 M☉。这段时期的变化和大气丰度显示,这颗恒星是第二次穿越不稳定带。第一次穿越不稳定带是从主序星迅速过渡到变成红巨星时,第二次穿越是在氦核心燃烧时,恒星进入蓝循环,变得更热之后再回到红巨星阶段[9]。
