南亞語系

南亞語系（英語：Austroasiatic languages），也譯作澳斯特羅-亞細亞語系（或澳亞語系），是世界主要語系之一。該語系主要分佈於中南半島、印度比哈爾邦和尼科巴群島、孟加拉國以及中國雲南等地，使用者約1.17億，包括越南語、高棉語、孟語、佤語等一百多種語言。其中越南語使用者約有9300萬、高棉語使用者約有1700萬，這兩門語言是眾多南亞語系語言中僅有的具有國家唯一官方語言地位的南亞語系語言。

南亞語系歷史悠久，其中越南語、高棉語和孟語很早即有成型的書面文字。傳統上把南亞語系劃分為孟高棉語族和蒙達語族（又譯捫達語族）兩個語族，但近年來很多學者提出了其他的劃分方案，例如有的學者新增了尼科巴語族和馬六甲語族；又有學者認爲它應該和苗瑤語合併爲一個語系。

劃分

根據考古研究與基因研究，推測在新石器時代，南亞語系人群與南島語系人群，分別經由不同路線進入東南亞。黃色路線為根據假說，原始南亞語人群進入東南亞的路線。

傳統上把南亞語系劃分為孟高棉語族和蒙達語族。Diffloth（1974）又把孟-高棉語族劃分為東支、北支、南支。

Diffloth（2005）提出了一種新的劃分方法，把北支（卡西—克木）單獨劃為一個語族。具體劃分如下：

Sidwell（2009）對南亞語系36種語言進行了詞彙統計，認為傳統劃分證據不足，因此把十幾個語支都和蒙達語族並列起來。
