白金汉
英國北白金漢郡的小鎮
白金汉（英语：Buckingham，/ˈbʌkɪŋ(h)əm/ BUK-ing-(h)əm）是位于英国白金汉郡的一小型集镇和民政教区，靠近该郡与北安普顿郡和牛津郡的边界。2011年英国人口普查时当地有12,043人。它自10世纪白金汉郡成立以来以来一直是其郡治，[2] 直到18世纪早期才被艾尔斯伯里取代。[3] 白金汉大学位于此地。

历史 编辑
白金汉的历史可以追溯到7世纪，据称其名就来自当时的一名盎格鲁-撒克逊部落领袖“Bucca”，因此其名的意思就是“Bucca之民的牧场”。[4] 最初的聚居点位于大奥斯河河畔、今白金汉大学校区内的亨特街（Hunter Street）。7世纪和11世纪之间反复被撒克逊人与丹麦人攻占。[4]
1086年的末日审判书中，白金汉是列于白金汉郡名下第一位的聚居地，[5] 1554年接受玛丽一世发布的特许状，其土地得以扩张。[6]
1725年3月15日白金汉发生大火，当地许多建筑物都在这场灾难中被毁。火灾之后建起了一批乔治亚式建筑，形成了现在白金汉的面貌。[7] 1971年白金汉郡议会与当地议会合作成立了“白金汉开发公司”（Buckingham Development Company），开始对白金汉的市中心东南面进行开发。二十年间。结果该镇人口从五千多增长到了到1991年的9,309人。[8]
