皮卡迪利街(英语:Piccadilly)是英国伦敦的一条主要街道,西到海德公园角,东到皮卡迪利圆环。皮卡迪利街完全属于威斯敏斯特市。这条街是A4公路的一部分,伦敦西部第二个最重要的交通动脉,伦敦地铁的干线皮卡迪利线便通过此路底下,并因此得名。皮卡迪利街东段的南侧是圣詹姆斯区,而皮卡迪利街的西段只有北侧建起了房屋,南侧是格林公园。皮卡迪利街的北侧是梅费尔区。
在皮卡迪利街上,有福南梅森食品店、皇家学院、伦敦丽兹酒店和哈查尔兹书店(Hatchards)。 辛普森(Simpsons)曾经位居英国最好的服装店之列,20世纪30年代开设在皮卡迪利街。这个店在1999年关闭,原址现在是水石书店的旗舰店。这个地区拥有许多热门的夜总会,包括摄政街独家的“纸”(Paper)夜总会,和莱斯特广场好客的“声音”(Sound)夜总会。
历史
编辑皮卡迪利街已有几个世纪的历史,但是没有证据显示它曾被用作罗马道路[1]。在中世纪,它曾被唤作“通往雷丁的道路”(the road to Reading)或“由科恩布鲁克而来的路”(the way from Colnbrook)[2]。在都铎时期,沿路两旁建筑开始蓬勃起来,由于卫生环境欠佳,当局曾经出手干预,下令禁止发展,奈何房地产炒卖炽热,市民都对新政视若无睹[3]。
1559-60年间,英国女王伊丽莎白一世将皮卡迪利街附近的土地赐予威廉·多丁顿(William Dodington),一年多后售予一酿酒商,之后辗转落入一位名为罗伯特·贝克(Robert Baker)的裁缝手中[3] 。贝克以制造及售卖皮卡地里(Piccadill)款式的衣领发迹,街道亦因而得名。
